Belvedere Poarta – A Scenic Escape
If you are looking for a relaxing walk to a breathtaking viewpoint, Belvedere Poarta is the place to be. From here, you can admire the majestic Bucegi Mountains and the entire Bran Valley spread out before you, all while walking to the soothing sound of the Poarta River.
How to get there: The viewpoint is located about 5.5 km from our villa, heading towards the mountains. You have two wonderful options:
The "Easy" Way: Drive for about 4 km to the end of the road, where the Zănoaga Ski Slope is located. You can park there for free. From the parking lot, continue with a pleasant 1.5 km hike through the forest, following the path along the river.
The Active Way: If you enjoy being active, you can start the hike directly on foot from the villa.
A few friendly tips :
Stay Hydrated: Don’t forget to bring a bottle of water with you.
Nature & Safety: While no wildlife (especially bears) has been reported in this area over the last two years, remember that the forest is their home. To keep wildlife at a distance, we recommend talking a bit louder or making a little noise as you walk; this naturally alerts animals to your presence and encourages them to move away long before you come into contact.
Be Prepared: As a courtesy for our guests at Casa Voinescu, I am happy to provide safety whistles for your journey. It is our pleasure to ensure you feel secure while exploring the wild beauty of Bran.
Via Transilvanica - Terra Borza Teutonica
Step into History: Via Transilvanica at Our Doorstep
We are incredibly fortunate to have the famous Via Transilvanica (the "Terra Borza Teutonica" route) passing just 100 meters from Casa Voinescu. This iconic long-distance trail is the perfect way to experience the authentic spirit of the region at your own pace.
The Journey: From Bran towards Zărnești & Poiana Mărului Starting right from our orchard's gate, you can follow the orange markers towards the heart of the "Teutonic Land." The path leads you through a landscape that feels like a royal crown, surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Bucegi, Piatra Craiului, and Făgăraș Mountains.
As you walk, you’ll encounter:
Rolling hills dotted with sheep and colorful wildflowers.
The medieval charm of Poiana Mărului, a place of pure serenity.
Breathtaking panoramas that explain why Brașov was named Kronstadt (the City of the Crown).
Flexible Exploration The beauty of this trail is its flexibility. You don’t have to be a professional hiker to enjoy it:
The "Easy Stroll": Walk for a few kilometers to soak in the views and the fresh mountain air, then simply turn back when you feel like it.
The "One-Way Adventure": If you want to explore further towards Zărnești or Poiana Mărului but don't want to walk all the way back, it’s easy! As long as you have someone in your group to pick you up by car, you can enjoy a full day of hiking and a quick drive home to the villa for a BBQ in our orchard.
Whether you walk for 20 minutes or 4 hours, this "miraculous path" is an experience that makes you stop and wonder. It’s not just a trail; it’s a journey through the history and soul of Transylvania.
Carved into spectacular rock walls over a length of approximately 4 km, the Zarnesti Ravines are notable for their monumental appearance due to the vertical walls or even leaning over the riverbed, with heights exceeding 200 m in some places.
In this area, the temperature drops by a few degrees because the sun penetrates the gorge quite hardly, only a few hours a day, which provides an opportunity to relax and rest in the coolness offered by the gorge, during summer.
The walls that border the valley have a height that varies between 100 and 200 m. The route through the Zarnesti Ravines impresses with the spectacularity of the rock walls in which numerous alpine routes have been arranged.
